Substituting passengers

I'm booked on a June Summit cruise to Bermuda. My travel companion may not be able to go due to a family illness. I have travel insurance but wondered if it was possible to substitute another person on the reservation?

You can change one passenger per cabin....as long as the person being replaced is not the primary reservation holder.

A couple of years ago, I substituted a different person well after final payment. I don't think things have changed have they?

I was the primary person on a cruise booked in January 2013. I added a second person later. However, due to a medical emergency and hospitalization, I could not go on the cruise. Even though I booked the cruise, the TA had no trouble substituting my travel partner's husband to go on the cruise.
