What hikes would you recommend in Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan ? (for views/scenery)

We love to hike and are looking for something not too far from town but would be willing to take a taxi or bus if needed (or even a hiking tour)

We will be in Juneau 6-5pm

Sitka 9am-7pm and Ketchikan 930am-5:45pm in May

We did the Indian River Trail in Sitka. It's about 5 miles each way and it's beautiful. We spent about an hour in line to get a shuttle from the ship to town and then walked about 30-40 minutes to get to the trailhead. I would look into getting a taxi next time.

In Ketchikan we had decided on the Rainbird Trail instead of Deer mountain because I was worried it would be to strenuous for me. It was really wet and foggy so we didn't do either :( but I would look into those.

Rainbird trail was quite pretty and moderate, not very long. We took a cab to the head of the trail at the university, and walked back toward the married man trail/creek street.

In Juneau we took a cab to the Perserverance Trail by the mining museum, headed up to around the Ebner Falls area and then back down to down to town via the Flume Trail. It was pouring on and off that day but the surfaces were fine.

We had our young daughters with us and didn't want to push it too much, but we've talked about going back and doing say Deer Mountain in Ketchikan or some of the more strenuous trails around Mendenhall.

Deer Mountain in Ketchican! I did it last year and it was a great challenge with a greater reward go to and getting to the top!! Granted you got nice weather. To speed things up take a taxi to the trail or I just walked there instead. I promise you will enjoy it!!

Enjoy Alaska!!
