bertrande Posted April 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2016 We sail on Harmony of the Seas in June with our then 7-month old. She is on full expressed breastmilk (won't latch). On shore excursions, I like to bring extra bottles of milk to standby in case I cannot pump on schedule. On previous cruises, we always managed to freeze our ice/gel packs for this purpose but this time, Special Needs department has indicated that there are no freezing facilities onboard. Does anyone have any idea how to get around this? Am a little flustered by this as we have a very long day in Rome! Thanks in advance!
rebeccalouiseagain Posted April 21, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) I have dealt with your situation (my son didn't latch either) and I did bring the pump AND powdered individual packs of formula for backup. I wasn't able to freeze any milk and just pumped as I went along and put it in a bucket of ice. Make sure to bring dish soap, a bottle brush and lots of bottles with you. It's very time consuming washing them effectively onboard. I used bottled water for the powdered formula, which was much more convenient because I mixed it and immediately used it. FYI- when he was age two I discovered he had a crossbite- which is why he didn't latch. Lots of orthodontia for him. Pitzel Posted April 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2016 Bring ziplock bags and fill them with ice to take with you (have your room steward full up your ice bucket in the morning or you can get ice from the buffet). Double bag in case of leaks and drips.
