We sail in the Yacht Club as well,,,I would recommend purchasing the 18 drink coupon booklet when you want to have a few drinks away from the Yacht Club:

Seven times in the Yacht Club and have never needed to purchase the drink package. If I am elsewhere on the ship, I just come back up to the YC for a drink then return back downstairs. Not inconvenient at all.

The 18 is the way to go. Between the mini bar and the to go drinks that le muse and the bar is happy to ply you with, there is no need for the drink package.

You pay extra for some premium alcohol. I like a Drambie, this was one of the drinks that wasn't included. I just ordered and signed and it was put on my cruise account.
