lel5344 Posted October 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2005 Looking for a recommendation for a place for lunch. We'll be "shopping" in Aruba while on our cruise and we'd like to find an interesting place for lunch that is convenient to the shopping areas. We're going to be walking. And if the restaurant specializes in local food, that would be fine with us. Thanks!
mdeane Posted October 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2005 Sorry I cannot remember the name of the one we ate in but it is near the port and a nice little out door cafe. There are many to choose from so you will probably want to decide while there. That's what we will do again.
Oliver Sudden Posted December 21, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2005 :) A handy place is the Paddock (which is visible from the ship, just south of the mall), across the street from the mall. We've never actually lunched there, because we eat on the ship. However, pitchers of beer are a joy, as is the openness of the place, where we can enjoy our suds while watching the tourists. It can be quite breezy there. They open at 11am. The Olde Molen (old mill, also visible from the ship) is another place, but I'm not sure about the hours of operation. That is a taxi ride, and it's in the distance to the left as you face the island. Local food? Try San Nicolas, as because of the mad influx of tourists, I don't think local food is available in Oranjestad. CathyG Posted December 21, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2005 I second the Paddock. The food is good and prices cheap. To see a menu go to http://www.paddock-aruba.com/menu. They show a lunch menu and an all day menu. It's the building with a big cow on the top - can't miss it.
Kviolasr Posted December 26, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2005 I would also recommend the Paddock - very conveniently located, great value!!
