Gretna LaQuinta

We are considering staying at the LaQuinta in Gretna prior to our cruise in August. We will arrive the day before our cruise and thought we could take the ferry across the river and walk into, or take the trolly to the French Quarters. We were told we could park the car for free at the hotel while we are on the cruise. Would appreciate any and all input on this plan. Thank you!

The Algiers ferry terminal is about a mile from this hotel. Just ask someone at the desk for directions.

The French Quarter is an easy walk from the Canal Street terminal. The ferry is free and a great place to see the city from, and you won't have to worry about parking.

Thank you for your response. As far as you know is Gretna a fairly safe place. Getting some conflicting reviews.

JGMPUMA again thank you for your input. Part of the reason we chose this cruise was to revisit your beautiful city and to bring friends and family, who have never been to New Orleans before. New Orleans should be on everyone's bucket list. Have a great week!

You won't miss anything if you skip the Shoney's in Gretna. Just saying. ;)

Thank you so much for the heads up! That very well could have been a place we would pick but won't now.
