You didn't tell us where your telephone is from, but you should know that many Western mobile telephones will not work in Japan. They have different frequencies. naxos Posted May 2, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted May 2, 2016 A US iPhone - will have the necessary frequency but we are wishing to connect through a portable wifi while on the ship and wonder if the ship sails close enough to land that the cell signal reaches the ship and we avoid cellular at sea rates.
