beechparty Posted October 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2005 What hotel did you stay in, what did you like or not like about it? We have two nights pre-cruise and one night post cruise and are trying to decide on a hotel. Any info or insights will be appreciated.

NAHA Posted October 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2005 I second that, we just returned last week, spent three nites at the Hilton in the Rainbow Tower. There was nothing I did not like. This hotel was superb; restaurants, views, beach, accomodations, service and soooo beautiful. Don't miss the fireworks on Friday nite. If you would like to see pictures, let me know your email address. Perhaps the only drawback, a beach umbrella and two lounge chairs was $54 per day. cruzegirl Posted October 19, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2005 My friends and I just got back from Hawaii....We stayed at the Ocean Resort Hotel Waikiki... about 1 1/2 blocks from the Waikiki beach... It's not the Sheraton or Marriott nor is the price but for under $80 a night (on a very popular hotel.com site) it's quite nice.. It has a pool, restaurant, gift shop, wireless in the lobby and nice decor, kitchenettes avail... We were fine.......
paradise4ever Posted October 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2005 We stayed at the Island Colony many years ago and its about 3 blocks from the beache and was very nice then. We also stayed at the Royal Kuhio several years ago and that was really nice and about 2 blocks from the beach. We also stayed at the Reef but I think the name has changed. That was truly nice too but the best is our stay at The Royal Hawaiian and its right on the beach. I hear there is alot of construction going on in Waikiki right now so check out carefully. Have fun
Shiloh Posted October 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2005 We too stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village - in the Tapa Tower. We absolutely loved it. Hoping to go back one day. The pools were great, as was the beach, the shops, the penguins! How cool was it to have penguins!! It was an awesome place.
JohnL1935 Posted October 20, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2005 I also have no complaints on HHV. We have a time share and stayed at their facility twice in 01. The grounds are fantastic with great shops that are fun to browse, an ice cream store, pizza store and all kinds of restaurants. Our favorite was the buffet at the base of the Rainbow Tower where we opened it up each morning and had a relaxing breakfast looking out at the beach and ocean that were just a stone's throw away. Out side the main gate is an ABC store, McDonald's and Tudai, a Japanese buffet restaurant that is very very crowded in the evening. I think Duke's was a long walk and we drove there for breakfast one morning. We preferred the buffet at HHV over Duke's. Parking in their garage was expensive at around $15/day. We're going to Hawaii in January but RT from LA so we can't stay. In Honolulu I'm doing some visiting to condos around HHV to perhaps stay for a month or so in 07 rather than going to Florida to get away from the winter cold of the Northeast. I forgot to mention that each tower has an open-air lounge at ground level with an Hawaiian band and singers each evening. It was fun to relax with my favorite drink and enjoy the music while my wife had fun in the shops. On one of our visits to the Flamingo Casino in LV we were told that their grounds are copied from those at HHV--right down to the penguins. I'm sure you'll have a great experience no matter where you stay... John L.

ttime Posted October 22, 2005 #12 Share Posted October 22, 2005 We stayed at the HHV Alia tower Sept 22-24 and originally had a garden view room which faced two brick walls and the wedding chapel under construction, We upgraded to an ocean view and it was terrific the complex is beautiful. Just be careful where the room it.:)
