Timid Traveller Posted May 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2016 I just got back from cruising on the Glory, Apr. 30 - May 6. It was a sister:) cruise. Both of my sisters have been on multiple cruises, but this was my first. I had a Wonderful time! The weather was beautiful everyday, and when it rained it did so at night. Before our trip I enjoyed reading many reviews on this message board. Thanks to everyone that posted, especially the photos as I am a visual person :). I salivated over food photos on http://www.zydecocruiser.net and the many food photos found here. I really enjoyed planning what I was going to eat every night in the MDR. I especially want to thank firemanbobswife for all of the updated menus she posted for the Glory (here are her Eastern Caribbean): http://boards.cruisecritic.com/member.php?u=117631. She had the most up to date menus for the Glory at the time of my cruise. Since our itinerary was slightly different from firemanbobswife, our menus were in a different order at times, and our Port of Call menu for Amber Cove [/font]replaced Half Moon Cay. All in all the food was the same except for that one Port of Call menu. Next my itinerary and food pics!
Timid Traveller Posted May 14, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Here was our itinerary: Day 1- Miami Day 2- Fun Day at Sea Day 3- Amber Cove Day 4- St. Thomas Day 5- San Juan Day 6- Grand Turk Day 7- Fun Day at Sea On to food review and pictures: Day 1 - Saturday - Miami Lunch: Fish n' Chips - very good fish! Dinner in MDR: I had Strawberry Bisque for my starter, and opted for multiple starters for my main meal (Smoked Chicken Quesadilla, Cream of Ripened Tomato soup, and a Romaine Caesar Salad). Apple pie for dessert. Sorry having technical difficulties getting my photos to show up. Will post them as soon as I figure it out.

RutgersKittyn Posted May 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Delicious! Thanks so much for taking these, and taking the time to share them. First time with the American Table menus next week and looking forward to it.
Timid Traveller Posted May 14, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Day 4 - Tuesday - St. Thomas Breakfast in MDR: Buttermilk Pancakes with Strawberries & Whipped Cream (yummy) Then up to Paradise Point via the St. Thomas Skyride where we each had a Baileys Bushwacker Drink (soooo good). I asked for one at the Red Frog later, and although it was good, it almost tasted like in a milkshake in comparison - not nearly as strong (LOL). The machines that house those awesome drinks at the restaurant: Here is the Baileys Bushwacker: Lunch at Guy's Burgers (had on a couple of days, and the second time was much fresher than the first)
Timid Traveller Posted May 14, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Day 4 - Tuesday - St. Thomas MDR Evening meal: Starters: Mine was Peach Soup (yummy) My sister had cannelloni starter Main Entrée: I had the delicious BBQ Pork Spareribs My sister had the salmon from the Grill menu My other sister had the Salmon Cake
Timid Traveller Posted May 14, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Day 4 - Tuesday - St. Thomas Desserts Today I stuffed myself with 2 desserts, because I really wanted to try both. Sticky Toffee Brioche (really good) and Peach Pie (probably my least favorite of all the pies served on the cruise) My sister's S'mores Parfait which she said was really good. Timid Traveller Posted May 14, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Day 5 - Wednesday - San Juan Breakfast in MDR: Cheese Omelet with side of Bacon & Hash Browned Potatoes Lunch at Guy's Burgers again MDR Evening Meal: Starters I had the Fried Shrimp (good) and the Roasted Pumpkin Soup (really good) Main Entrée I choose the Featured Vegetarian Indian Style Vegetable Dish(it was really good too) My sister had Beef and Barley Soup for her starter and said it was really good One of my sisters had salmon from the Grill Menu *****Previous Day Meal was Grilled Mahi Mahi from Grill Menu, not Salmon as I had reviewed****** I think this was the Grilled Mahi Mahi (previous day offering from the grill) Desserts I had the Rhubarb Pie (my 2nd favourite pie served) I also got the Buttered Popcorn Pot de Crème to split (excellent)
Timid Traveller Posted May 14, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Day 6 - Thursday - Grand Turk MDR Breakfast Cheese Omelet with side of crispy bacon & hash browned potatoes again Lunch at Red Sail Deli Sandwich - Arugula, Tomato & Mozzarella on Foccicia (with pesto mayo) MDR Evening Meal Starter All of us had the Stuffed Mushrooms (very good) Two of us had the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp for our Main Entrée (very tasty shrimp - yummy) My other sister had the Spanakopita & Stuffed Bell Peppers Desserts Two of us had the really good Grand Marnier Souffle One of my sisters had the Amaretto Cake
Timid Traveller Posted May 15, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Day 7 - Friday - Fun Day at Sea Sea day Brunch - Eggs Benedict again (just as yummy:)) I also had dessert with my sea day brunch. I tried the Caramelized Cheese (it was good - much better than the Banana Cream Pie) We had lunch at the Red Sail Restaurant. This was the first time I actually tried any of the food from the buffet. I have to say, the MDR is far superior in taste and presentation. I felt wasteful to have only eaten half of what I dished out, but some of it really looked much better than it tasted. I also would have rather saved my calories for the MDR than to eat something that I really didn't care for. That said, the soup you see was excellent. I forget what it was called but it had beans and chicken in it, with southwest flavouring I think. MDR Evening Meal Starters I had my first Shrimp Cocktail of the cruise and the Mango Cream Soup which was yummy (but the Strawberry Bisque especially, and the Peach were better cold cream soups in my opinion) My sister had the Caprese Salad Main Entrée I had been hoping to try the Cinnamon Pumpkin Cheese Pie on this cruise, and my wishes came true. It was good I have to say, but it really wasn't nearly as wonderful as the Root Vegetable in a Pie Crust that I had earlier in the cruise. I am really glad that I got to try it though. Desserts I think everyone at the table had two desserts on our final evening. I had the Cherry Pie and the Banana-White Chocolate Bread Pudding (Very Good)
Timid Traveller Posted May 15, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted May 15, 2016 I just wanted to say that there was so much yummy food on the Carnival Glory. I really didn't dislike anything I ate. My favorite starter is too difficult to choose. I loved all of the hot soups and also the Strawberry Bisque. I think my favorite entrée was the Root Vegetables in a Pie Crust. My favourite desserts would be a toss up between the Sticky Toffee Brioche, the Grand Marnier Soufflé and the Buttered Popcorn Pot de Crème. I also enjoyed some delicious drinks while cruising: Strawberry milkshake from Creams A Mocha Chocolate Getaway and a Pina Colada My sister had a beautiful (and apparently delicious) Twilight Zone drink This was truly a fantastic vacation!!! Timid Traveller Posted May 15, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Unfortunately some of my photos are not really clear, since they did not load in the quality or size that I had hoped. I really wanted to share the "Amber Cove Port of Call" menu, but it is too small and blurry to read. This is what the Appetizer section for Amber Cove Port of Call Menu says: Mangu Mashed plantains with grilled chorizo and pickled red onions. This is what the Main section for Amber Cove Port of Call Menu says: La Bandera A casserole with chicken, sweet peppers, tomato, red beans and coconut. Served with fried banana. Firemanbobswife has posted some clear photos the menus used while cruising to Half Moon Cay. These were also used at Amber Cove in addition to the Amber Cove Port of Call Menu. Tuckers Mom Posted May 17, 2016 #21 Share Posted May 17, 2016 Thank you for the pictures and your descriptions. We are going on Glory in April, 2017 (cannot wait) and I was a bit concerned that my husband, a very picky eater, would not have much that appealed to him but now that I have seen a lot of the food available, I am not worried at all...he'll eat like a king!
