Elderly husband in wheelchair Nassau and Freeport; any suggestions?

We have been to Nassu numerous times, so I don't want to tour downtown or shop. I have been to Junkanoo Beach before, but I'm not sure how to manage with the wheelchair. If I can get to a beach for a couple of hours without an all day pass, I would be happy, he can walk a little, if there would be beach chairs and I can maneuver the wheelchair, which is 18 pounds.

The sidewalk to Junkanoo beach in Nassau is rough. Perhaps you could take a taxi. That is pretty much the only non daypass option.

In Freeport maybe you could taxi to http://www.junkanoobeachfreeport.com/. It is a very nominal fee to enter. I can't remember if you have to take stairs down to the beach though. You could contact them and ask. If not the restaurant area would be nice to sit at.

Does anyone know how the taxis/vans handle wheelchairs?
