Grand Cayman question for bruce_r (or others)

Bruce - Since you seem to be the resident expert on GC, I'll direct this to you but obviously anyone who can answer would be appreciated. I'm going to be in GC next April with a group of 10 people, of which I'll be the only diver. In Cozumel, I've managed to arrange a private operator who will do a combo scuba / snorkel trip so I can blow bubbles while the rest of my group snorkels. I'm trying to find someone in GC who will arrange something similar. Ideally - since I'll have my kids with me - I'd like to do a trip which includes Stringray City sandbar. I've tried the official GC scuba site but no one jumps out at me and the only response I've gotten back from my inquiries is someone who will take us to the original Stingray City and not the sandbar. I really think the kids would prefer the sandbar.

Any suggestions?

That is a tough question. If I understand correctly, what you want is an operator that will take 10 people on a combo dive/snorkel trip that will include a stop at stingray city - sandbar location.

Sounds like you will need to charter your own boat. If you do that, you will get to decide where you go.

I think these operators do private charters: http://www.absolutedivers.com/ http://www.diversdown.net/diving-charters.htm http://www.otwdivers.com/main.php http://www.bestdivingingrandcayman.com/about_us.htm

I've gone diving with http://www.neptunesdivers.com, but I don't know if they will take 10 people since they do advertize 8 divers max, but since there will be only 1 diver, they might. Casey is a really nice person.

Contact these guys right away if you want to charter the whole boat. It they are unable to accommodate you, be sure to ask them for a recommendation for someone who can.

The other choice for you is to do a regular stingray city trip in the morning, then do a shore dive after lunch. The rest of the people can snorkel while you dive. I'm sure this would be your second choice.

Hope this helps.
