Yukon adventure tours for non us citizens

Hubby is a green card holder and we really want to do the horse tour but he has to have proff of citizenship. Normally the cruise line keeps this until closer to the end of the sailing. Has anyone done this who was a non us citizen did RCI let you get your pass port and green card back for the day?

RCI didn't hold our passports at all this year. I understand that some lines still do, though I can't imagine how they figure it's worth the hassle.

Why do some lines hold your passport? That seems strange.

Yukon, that makes me feel better. As I did not want to pay for $150 tour and not have my better half go with me.
