I have not stayed in an aft on the Valor, I did on the Dream.

I most likely would not stay in an aft cabin again.

It gets hot back there. Very little breeze.

You do not get the privacy you get in a regular balcony because the sides of the balcony slope down at an angle.

You do have a great view of the water but there is also a deck out there so people can look up and see you. I like total privacy on my balcony.

You will get soot on everything on the balcony because of the smokestack.

You will be a long way from a lot of what you want to do. In my case I wish my cabin was in the casino.

When the ship docks and drops anchor you will be the first to know it.

Like I said many absolutely love aft balconies, I am not one of them.

Having said all of that there are a few balconies that cost about the same as a regular balcony that are way in the back just before the aft cabins. If you can snag one of those, do it. They have a huge balcony and the cabin has an odd shape that I much prefer. The bathroom is located in a different spot so you can use the bathroom without bothering whoever is using the closet. Also the bed faces the balcony. The view is wonderful. IMHO it is worth the trade off of being in the back.
