which beach to go

me and my wife will be sailing on the carnival sunshine and arriving in St. Thomas on July 24th. don't know exactly the port, but it is listed as Charlotte Amalie. Would like to find a beach to go that's not to far from the port where I would not have to take a long cab ride and have to spend 40 to 50 dollars round trip to and from the the cruise port for us both plus possible beach fees I would rather spend my money on food drink and would like the beach to have amenities such as loungers, clam shells or umbrellas for shade , most beaches I have read about seem like 20 or 30 min drives from port I would like something a little closer with calm waters also would like to know if transportation other than taxis is available and the cost and do they run regularly, I would appreciate any tips you can give me also must be a pretty beach.

Practically speaking a taxi is your best option. Lindberg beach AKA Emerald Beach wuould be close and have everything you are looking for
