wally_bushy Posted July 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2016 A call to all the experts on the relative merits of the PH suites on the Insignia (deck 8). We are looking at the New York to Montreal cruise and figure port side to be best (willing to be corrected). Are there any rooms to be avoided based on the floor plan above. [We have been in 8035 and 8043 (starboard) previously with no problems.]
JimandStan Posted July 21, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2016 With cabin location, everything is a compromise. As you leave New York Harbor, the Manhattan skyline will be on the Port side, but the statue of Liberty will be Starboard. Until you get into the St. Lawrence, the ship will seldom sail within site of land, but between Saguenay and Montreal both sides are equally delightful. O the R ships, we prefer to stay forward of 8024 and 8027, because I find the rectangular shape of the Suites up there to be more spacious and airy. As you go further aft, the shape of the Suites seems to become more square than a rectangle (although I have no specifics to support this). That said, Penthouses forward of 8011 on the Starboard side are too close to the Deck 9 smoking area to suit me, and we have friends who refuse to sail in ANY cabin which has a connecting door in it. We have either been very lucky or very oblivious but noise has never been an issue for us on Deck 8.
wally_bushy Posted July 23, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted July 23, 2016 We are travelling with my brother and his wife and may select 8006 and 8008 at this stage. Thanks Jim and Stan for your response
