Currency for onboard purchases

Could anyone confirm what currency is used for onboard purchases at the bar or shops.

We sail in September. We are from the UK and our invoice is of course in UK pounds. All ships excursions are also priced online in UK pounds. However I was expecting the onboard currency to be Euros, I guess because I think of Viking as a European Cruise Line. However on searching the forum I see some prices in USD.

We have booked only included excursions due to current restricted mobility of DH. Hopefully this will have improved by September, so we may book more excursions on board. Of course the recent fall in the value of the pound against the USD would impact on us.

All Onboards are in USD. Remember that drinks outside the freebies at lunch & dinner have additional surcharge
