Dine Anytime vs. Assigned Time dining

I am certainly no expert on Celebrity, but we wished to have a table for two on Infinity, Select. The first night we were shown to one of the two-tops that was a foot away from the next. We politely declined and said we'd wait. One nice glass of wine in the adjacent bar later and we were at a table that we loved. After that night, we knew (with the help of the hostess) when to show up to get one of our favored tables. Some nights we had to wait in the bar, but how much punishment is that??? Wine and cocktails are on the house and we're on vacation. (I should add that we're not fanatics about the shows, but were able to catch most of them, but not great seats...)

We have been on many cruises and with one exception, have always chosen traditional dining. We have been very fortunate having met some wonderful people from all over. The conversations are never dull and we enjoy hearing about everyone's day, etc. last

Sorry, I hit "send". The last cruise we were on, we had a table for 8 and all of the men were retired military, one from another country. We had a wonderful time and even cancelled specialty dining one night so we wouldn't miss out on a good time with some very interesting people. These are the things that hold the most special memories for us.
