Rare debsjc Posted April 3, 2017 #26 Share Posted April 3, 2017 There are no reserved seats on this train but if you have a ticket you will have a seat on the train. Thank you We have had to book the 0945 train, as all the later ones were already full. We are due to anchor at 0700, and then tender, so I hope we can make it ok
TravelBugM Posted April 3, 2017 #27 Share Posted April 3, 2017 You will have oodles of time. The train is about a 10 minute walk from the pier. There are train personnel at the entrance which check your print out, then you simply find a car - some will be reserved for groups - and find a seat. We rode up on one side, then switched sides for the ride down. Either side, beautiful scenery.
Rare debsjc Posted April 3, 2017 #28 Share Posted April 3, 2017 It should be ok, as long as HAl don't block out all the first tenders for their excursions. I have had issues getting tender tickets from HAL before!
TriMomma Posted April 20, 2017 #29 Share Posted April 20, 2017 If you are worried about washroom time at the Myrdal Station, perhaps you can get off at the stop before Myrdal (Vatnahalsen Hotel) and you will have enough time to use the facilities. That will give you 25 minutes between trains. We were continuing on to Oslo but I remember that the return to Flam was pretty darn quick. It seemed like most people stayed on the train. I don't remember what facilities were on the train, but you won't want to miss a moment as the scenery is fantastic. We weren't in Flam with a cruise, but can say that having independent tickets was easy peasy. We also boarded before the groups. I loved it!
