changing date of holiday

Recommended Posts

does anyone know the logic behind Thompsons policy in that if you change your cruise date to later you have to cancel the whole thing and loose your deposit, but if the dates are earlier you dont have to cancel

I have just ealised that part of our cruise next year is the half term week:(

Don't you still have to cancel the existing booking in total in both cases before making a new reservation ?

According to their Guide To Our Cancellation Charges as published in Thomsons cruise brochure there is Loss of Deposit if you cancel 70 days or more in advance of departure.

Thereafter, as you move closer to that date there is an escalating percentage financial penalty ranging through five levels, 30% / 50% / 70% / 90% / 100% loss depending on the length of notice given.

Presumably these apply (or should) in your situation ?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the scenario of course.

this is what it quotes on our invoice

To change accommodation, flight time, airport, duration and/or to travel earlier than planned*

£50 per person

90% of original cost

100% of original cost

To travel later than planned

Cancellation charges apply -

I think I will give them a ring sounds as if it will be expensive to change we will just have to put up with all the children lol

Might be I'm wrong but there appears to be a mixture of AMENDMENT fees quoted along with CANCELLATION charges.

What is the date of your departure ?

That timescale will allow you to calculate the potential penalty if you cancel and rebook.

I would certainly call Thomsons for clarification, or better still visit a TUI TA shop, if convenient.

Good luck sorting it out.
