dpritcht Posted May 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I booked the Caribbean Princess for the May 29th Western Caribbean sailing. I booked a guaranteed cabin directly through Princess and ended up with room B716 in Category J. On the Princess Cruise Personalizer, it lists the bed configuration as non-converting twins! When I look up the room on Travelocity, it shows the room as two twins that can be made into a King. My wife will KILL ME if we have to sleep in two beds. Can anyone confirm what kind of bed configuration is in this room?
spongerob Posted May 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2004 It's either/or. The cruise personalizer seems to default to non-converting twins for some reason, which has resulted in a flurry of panicked posts to this board. It's just a glitch. There are only three cabins on the ship that have non-convertible beds. Yours isn't one of them. mom2three Posted May 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2004 My personlizer said the same thing. I called Pricess and told them I wanted a queen. Said no problem, I believe it's just to let the cabin person to know if they are to move together. My personzonlizer was updated within minutes. Hope this helps! mii Posted May 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Not worry. Mine also says on the personalizer and it always did on previous cruises. Everytime we got to the cabin, it was made up to one bed. Have a great cruise. Marilyn
Cruisin' Lisa Posted May 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Hmm, I don't know. I was just on the Dawn Princess last weekend for their repositioning cruise from LAX to Vancouver. And thought for sure that I would get two twins that converted to a king after reading these posts (we booked a triple). . .and guess what, our beds didn't convert. There was a dresser inbetween that was bolted or something, and was immovable. So, unfortunately, we couldn't get a king bed. srphnx Posted May 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2004 This thread is back again, as noted above it can happen but is rarely the case, it is princess glitch not to worry. heyjude27 Posted May 18, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Don't panic -- you can make the best of this. I once had an inside triple room as described by Lisa above. It ended up being great. 1) I dropped the third bed and used it for all the overflow -- Great. 2) The room seems larger with the two beds all the way against the side walls. Great. 3) We established "visiting rights." Great 4) I stuck him with the wet spot every time! Buon Viaggio J
marc334 Posted May 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2004 if the beds are not together-call your cabin person and he will take care of it
jturner901 Posted May 18, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 18, 2004 we generally take inside cabins. We usually leave the twins as such. In the smaller inside cabin config, it provides SO much more room. We have had them in the together format and find that it just cuts the usable room in the cabin to half. All the best! cdnguy Posted May 18, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Hey Jay. Maybe some of us want the beds together for another reason. AbbyGirl Posted May 18, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 18, 2004 We booked a triple...Our personalizer also mentioned non-converting twins, which in my case might be o.k (for me anyway), because my two roommates are 1 year newlyweds!!! We've already had the "No Sex" while I'm in the room talk!!! This should be fun!!! pamelazzz Posted May 18, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Spongerob: you mentioned there are only three cabins on the ship that have non-convertible beds. I am in D706 (for September) and my personalizer said non converting also. So I called Princess and the rep I spoke with said, yep it was correct. But, I still have my doubts. Do you know which 3 cabins truly are non converting? Thanks for the info.
cdnguy Posted May 18, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Pamela: What you need is the latest cruise brochure of the Caribbean Princess showing the deck plans. At the very bottom of the deck plan page is a legend. The one marked with a *says "Two lower beds not convertible to Queen" The only two cabins I can see with the * are cabins D732 & D733. You will be OK in D736. My personalizer has always said non-converting.
