mrscutecuban Posted October 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2016 Hello my fellow DCL'ers... Booking a cruise for next summer on dream and I have put a deposit down on a Navigators Verandah.. I normally sail in balcony rooms on cruises but am hearing alot about the virtual portholes on the inside rooms.. Can anyone compare for me and advice which is better ? This is our 2nd cruise on dream and this time its just me and my 5yr old.. TIA ;)
moki'smommy Posted October 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2016 We did the virtual porthole once just for the fun of it. The 5 year old will like it. Having done it once, I would prefer the balcony....but I don't regret having done it. With a child...I'd do the virtual. It's cute it's fun, and there is a switch by the bed where you can turn it off.

Any advice on which cat of inside cabin is good ? Thanks again :)
moki'smommy Posted October 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2016 With only 2 of you, any inside will be fine. We liked deck 2 near Enchanted Garden, which is also near one of the kiosks for the Midship Detective game. The rooms were tucked down a hall such that the traffic for the restaurant did not walk past the rooms at all--very nice and quiet, and midship. On the other hand, 5aft is also one of our favorite locations. For such a short cruise, it isn't a huge issue--you won't be in the cabin much! Kid areas are midship, adult areas forward (yes, this is a generalization). For more people, I'd make a big deal about the split bath, etc. but for one adult and one young child....it truly isn't a huge thing.
