The CD for the Sapphire is going to be Alastair Greener, he was our CD on the Island last month and announced that it was his last Island cruise and would be taking a little time off and would then be on the Sapphire, he is fantastic, we loved him, and look forward to seeing him when we cruise the Sapphire in November. Hi pam

Alastair was the CD on our very first cruise ever, and it was aboard the Star when it first entered the scene, interestingly, along the Alaska inside passage. He was great, low keyed but very visible and nice. Tommy remembers his kilt on formal night lol.I guess that we all considered him low keyed especially after the difference in the CDs that sail the Carribean. It is just a different atmosphere. We all really liked Alastair.

We still cannot wait until your review. I don't want to rush your cruise though. Are'nt you excited??? It will be here before you know it.

Take care icon_smile.gif

Alastair was anything but lowkey on the Island, that is what we all loved so much about him, he was so energetic and funny. We loved his kilt too. Sissy

Pamwinn,

Captain Attilio Guerrini was born in a small village in Tuscany, Italy in 1948 and was the first of his family to choose a career at sea, when he went to sea on a fishing trawler at age 14.

In 1968, after graduating from the Livorno Nautical Institute, he served two years in the Italian navy as a reserve officer on mine sweeping units. He then served for ten years on various cargo vessels before making the change to the passenger fleet, and Princess Cruises, in 1981.

Captain Guerrini has served as Staff Captain aboard the old Star, Sun and Dawn Princess and has commanded the Fair, Crown, Star, Regal and Dawn Princess. In 1998 he was appointed relief Captain of Sea Princess for inaugural season and, in 2003, oversaw the launch of the Ocean Village brand before taking command of the ship for her maiden seasons in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. He has since gone ashore to join the new-build team working on the new Sapphire Princess and was onboard during her sea-trials in April 2004. He has sailed throughout the world on cruises to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, South Pacific and Mediterranean.

Captain Guerrini currently resides on the Gold Coast of Australia, with his wife, Joanne and daughter, Annalisa, who both enjoy traveling with him as often as they can.

When on leave, he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling and other outdoor pursuits.

As many of you who read my tribute to him a few months ago will know, I have a great deal of respect for him. He is a fantastic Captain and a truly wonderful gentleman. I hope you enjoy your cruise with him.

Andrew.
