FL amerisuites or days inn

This is my first post --- hope all goes well. Anywho.. I have a group of at least 8 people (possibly 14 -- the rest have not booked airfare yet) flying into FLL for cruise out of Miami on 2/12/06. We think we have found hotel rates of appox. $120 for either days inn or amerisuites by FLL airport. We are planning on having 4-6 adults per room. We are not picky and just need place to crash until we head to Miami pier in morning. Also, what is best way to get to MIA pier in the morning from either of these hotels?

any help would be greatly appreciated. 4 of us are going on our 2nd cruise and the rest are 1st timers so we are trying to make it seemless as possible for them as our first experience was quite chaotic (but most fun of our lives anyway) --- live and learn.

Well you don't mention WHICH Days Inn, there are dozens of them and to be honest I can't think of a single one that isn't pretty nasty - most are of the calibur of motel that have hourly rates, so I'd have to tell you to go with AmeriSuites.

We use either Tri-County/Airport Express... http://www.floridalimo.com/

Or Larry's Limo... http://www.larryslimo.com/

Both are reliable, reputable local companies.

thanks Trent. I believe the Days inn my friend was referring to was on 17th street or something. looking at the pictures, i was leaning towards the amerisuites. Is amerisuites reputable? Or would you recommend any other inexpensive hotels. We don't get into FLL until 11:30 and we are cruising from miami so we won't be using the hotel long enough to enjoy any amenities.

Thanks again for your help trent... i will pass the info along to our group.

There's no Days Inn on SE 17th Street, but there are a lot of them, most in less than desirable areas. ;)

Yeah, AmeriSuites is okay, and is extremely popular with many on here. AmeriSuites is actually owned by Hyatt, so it's a good company. It's a budget hotel, nothing fancy, but as long as you don't expect a Ritz-Carlton it's fine for a night. Through Valuetrips it's frequently the least expensive hotel in the area, although on some dates I've seen lately Extended Stay America is a bit cheaper (and it's a little nicer place). Holiday Inn Express on SE 17th Street is also a nice budget hotel.

CMU...We booked Amerisuites on 17th St in Feb for $99 through Valuetrips. I would definately take TrentS advise because some of the hotels in FL can be nasty and you will be alot for the nastiness. The 17th street area has easy access to everything and you won't need a car. Amerisuites will pick you up at the airport and deliver you to the cruise port so you are not out the cab fare for that.

Have fun on your cruise!!! We certainly plan to!

Trent and Cruzzers....definately taking your advise....thanks bunches. I spoke to members of our group and I think I've got them convinced. (although on our last cruise we stayed in quite the dive by DTW airport and laugh hard about it now--- we weren't sure if the three brand new vehicles we were leaving at the hotel for the week would be there upon our return --they were and would stay again for the price we paid). I have put a reservation in for amerisuites via valuetrips --- should hear within two business days. Not sure if we will get the price via valuetrips though as it looks like 2/10-2/20 is a blackout week.

thanks again for the info.

Well, I heard back from Amerisuites and that is indeed a blackout week. (no harm in trying, right?) I spoke to my friends and informed them. Their flight gets in earlier than ours, so they would be interested in the hotel having a pool. Looking at extended stay and holiday inn express, neither has a pool. Any other "cheap but decent" hotels with a pool you would suggest? Appreciate all the help so far.

AmeriSuites is about it for cheap ones with a pool along SE 17th Street. Did you check their price by going to them directly? That still may be your best option for "cheap", but here are the others in that area. They have pools, but are generally more expensive...

Bahia Mar resort is a decent place across the street from the beach and on the Water Taxi route with a pool that's sometimes quite reasonably priced... http://www.bahiamarhotel.com/
