Drink packages?

Carnival is different than Royal Caribbean as it only offers one beverage package called Cheers. It is $49.95 per day (if purchased before sailing) and they tack on an auto gratuity bringing your daily cost to $57 per day. The package gets you 15 alcoholic drinks per day, plus unlimited bottled water, soda, specialty coffee, energy drinks, and sports drinks.

Seems like a lot of money upfront, but if you like to drink on vacation it's not a terrible deal as paying a la carte gets expensive very quick.

We have done both the Royal and Princess packages, and you do need to do some homework, as both have different levels (or did at the time). In the end our best friends fiancé who was traveling with us even felt the pkg was worthwhile so that she did not have to worry about the $$$. She is not a heavy drinker, maybe 2-3 mixed drinks a day, but since it covered soda, specialty coffee, and bottled water, we believe she broke even.
