Prices: more than Seabourn? How do they compare?

Having cruised on various lines like Regent, I found the relaxed non fashionista style of AZ much more enjoyable.

It is nice to have good food but it is not the be all of a cruise.

I will always remember the uncomfortable feeling of being judged buy my clothing not being designer or dripping in jewels.

Even though as a very small woman I am always well dressed.

Our cruise to Alaska was fabulous in spite of the gray and rainy weather ...which lucky for us, cleared up when we needed it the most!

It was our first experience cruising with Seabourn! Embarkation was a breeze... as well as the disembarkation.

The SB Sojourn offered spacious suites with a veranda! The suite amenities were perfect and very roomy ... a bar with all the alcohol desired, a walk-in closet with numerous hangers, a safe and robes; the bathroom had a tub, separate shower and double sinks which offered plenty to room to move about! The bed linens were changed daily, as well as the towels (sometimes twice daily)! We opted for the beds to be pushed together for a king size feel! There was plenty of storage... drawers and shelving to store our multitude of clothing! The living room with a couch and two side chair provided all the seating one needed!

One item worthy of mention is the complete soundproofing between rooms and with hallway! Our suite was next to an elevator which, at first thought, might have been an issue but it was to no avail! We never heard anything going on outside our suite! We couldn't even make out the ship's announcements unless we opened our suite door or turned on the TV!

The dining experience offered many venues! The Restaurant (no reservations needed) was impeccable... service, food, drinks... absolutely no complaints... the wine kept flowing! There were also four other dining options on board... the Colonnade (buffet and daily menu options); the Patio; the Grill and Restaurant 2 (which required a reservation) ... as well as the Café in the Square that offered all coffee options with pastries and small sandwiches all day long!

One could never go hungry or thirsty aboard the SB Sojourn!

The entertainment was well diversified with quality and talented singers, dancers, magicians, band... etc.

There were many "enrichment" conferences given by well-qualified lecturers at different times in the Grand Salon to inform us about Alaska... glaciers, gold rush, birds, killer whales, etc.

The staff from around the world all spoke English. Most knew our last name and remembered our food preferences and room comforts. A plate of fresh fruit was delivered to our suite daily! The Sojourn skimped on absolutely nothing!

The excursions were well organized and reasonably priced.

The mix of passengers was mostly from the USA and ages ranged from 40 to 75 or so. There were very few young passengers below the age of 20!

Seabourn provided all its passengers with a jacket to weather the Alaskan weather!

Our cruise Director and assistant Director were superb. They certainly made our cruise experience with SB a very memorable trip to remember!

Captain Hamish was very approachable and visited with his guests often.

All in all a perfect cruise!

By the way, any Azamara passenger--not just suite passengers--can go to the guest reception desk and request a bridge, galley, or engine control room tour.

FYI This is no longer the case. Discover Platinum and suite guests ONLY are given free tours. The rest of the passengers are required to pay $79 pp for these "so special tours". I confirmed this with Heike in July, the order comes from Miami. You must pay to go on Bridge, Galley, and engine room tours. No one likes to pay for something that was free before. Seems just like a money grab.
