BarbGar Posted November 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2005 We are arriving in Ft. Lauderdale the night before our cruise and thought we would like to watch the ships that leave on Saturday night about 5 pm. Any restaurant(s)/cocktail lounges that have that view. I think the Hyatt Pier 66 has a revolving restaurant, but can you see the ships leaving from there, and we will miss it if we have revolved to the other side? Thanks for help -- Leaving this Sat 11/
RDMOREU Posted November 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2005 Sorry, they no longer have the revolving lounge. It's being changed into a banquet facility.

TrentS Posted November 11, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2005 There's a great restaurant to watch the ships sail from the Port of Miami (Smith & Wollensky at South Pointe Park - http://www.smithandwollensky.com/LOC-MiamiBeach-Hours.asp ), but that's something lacking in Fort Lauderdale at the moment. The best areas to watch the ships leave Port Everglades are from the SE 17th Street bridge. There are little platforms that jut out from the sidewalk where you can stand and get a great view of the entire port... Other areas are on the beaches at either end of the channel, or from one of the hotels along the beach such as Bequia suggested. Your only other option is to stay in a tower room on a high floor, south side, at either Hyatt Pier 66... http://pier66.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp Or Marina Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLFL
