My wife and I usually fly down a day early and always cruise out of Ft Lauderdale. We go to a local Liquor store, near Embassy Suites, the night before and get a couple of bottles of scotch and vodka to take on board. They have a large number of brands that come in plastic bottles and we have taken them aboard in our carry on luggage 4 times without a problem. Now glass may be a different story. Moderation also helps, I've seen people trying to carry a case of beer that was confiscated

You can bring the case of beer if you really want! We usually use a rolling suitcase, fill it with diet coke, rum, wine & champagne, carry it right on board, never had a 2nd look!

I would definitely be careful about flying with plastic bottles in your carryon, they will confiscate those at a lot, if not all of the airports! We either pack ours in the checked luggage or get it the day before in the departure port!
