Debfife Posted November 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2005 What's the dress for men in the dining room on non formal night? Dockers? Dockers shorts?
Sablerose Posted November 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2005 I can't speak directly to the Valor, but I can tell you what was on the Conquest (same class ship) a week ago. When we sat down in the dining room the first night, the Maitre D' said that the dress code for the dining room was: "No swimsuits, no shorts, no tank tops, no ball caps. Everything else is okay." My husband wore dockers and golf shirts or button-up shirts, etc. to the dining room. We did see some folks in jeans.

Sablerose Posted November 12, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2005 Thanks! I knew I was right. DH thought I was crazy when I said NO SHORTS! ;) Just tell him if he wears shorts to the dining room and the Maitre D' turns him away, you're gonna have dinner without him! :p :D
big_duck Posted November 12, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2005 Is there a dress code for the dining room? Depending on the length of the cruise, either formal dress or casual resort wear is required in the Dining Room. The dress requirement for children is the same. For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido restaurants are open nightly (with the exception of the last evening of the cruise), and have a casual dress code. Formal Wear: tuxedo (optional); suit and tie; sport coat, tie and slacks; evening gown; cocktail dress; pantsuit Casual Resort Wear: sport shirts and slacks; dresses; skirts; pantsuit NOTE: Shorts, t-shirts and bathing attire are not permitted in the Dining Room during dinner. Cotton Posted November 12, 2005 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2005 Deb - Tell your DH he can have dinner on Lido - while you enjoy the ambiance of fine dining.:D There's a possibility that you'll see shorts in the dining room on the first night ONLY. Some folks don't have their luggage, especially if they have early dining seating. Shorts are allowed in the dining room on the first night only. zonemasconi Posted November 12, 2005 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2005 yes shorts can be worn in the dining room on the first and sometimes the last. for the saints and sinners last year I came extrememly close to not having luggage at all thus leaving me with the clothes I was wearing (jean shorts and a red Izod shirt) needless to say I would have been in the dining room every night wearing the very same clothes unless they offered me room service with the same menu.
