We are doing our first "free style" type cruise and I am concerned about dress code for myself as well as husband and two sons. We would normally pack formal dresses, tux, etc and I wonder will we be overdressed on this cruise and if so what would you suggest to pack.

well.. if you like it - I would do it.

but.. NCL was always very relaxed in dress code, no formal nights..

Before they asked for shoes and polo for guys at MDR and just a little nicer for specialty restaurants.

But being on Getaway last week - they relaxed rules even more now.

It was ok to be on shorts or capris for ladies and flip flops in MDR for dinner and they asked for jeans and tshirt at LeBistro..

and crowd was very-very casually dressed, with some exceptions.. but I havenot seen any formal gowns, cocktail dresses at most

( may be I just missed them )

For men I've seen a dark suit or two, but never a tux. I would say it's pretty rare to even see a tie on "dress up or not night." Maybe a blazer or two...but again, pretty rare It tends to go more toward khakis and collared shirt. For women it's a bit more varied. I've seen cocktail dresses, dressy tops with pants, sun dresses, capris.....pretty much you name it lol I htink I remember a gown or two a few years ago, but not in recent years.
