Where to stay in Ft Lauderdale

THANKS! I will certainly keep that in mind. They, unfortunately, seem to be one of the very few hotels that actually has a free shuttle to the airport and the cruise port . . . any others?

Staying in a dumpy motel in a bad neighborhood that's far from the port and airport, with nothing around it but freeways, just for a "free" shuttle is a horrible way to start a vacation!!! :(

A shuttle is NEVER a reason to ever book ANY hotel!!! Stay along SE 17th Street, those hotels are less than 10 minutes from the airport, and just outside the entrance to Port Everglades! There's NO NEED for a shuttle as cabs are VERY INEXPENSIVE. However, AmeriSuites has a "free" port AND airport shuttle, Holiday Inn Express "Convention Center" has a "free" airport shuttle, and it's only a block from the port.
