Take the mattress off the bunk and or packing a blow up mattress sounds good. I brought a blow up mattress on one cruise. My husband snores terribly and no ear plugs help. So I opted to sleep out on the balcony....large balcony on that one....and it was awesome. He volunteered to sleep out there but I actually enjoy the smell and sound of the ocean. I just put it next to the bed by the closet every night. The cabin steward gave me bedding for it.
