Snorkeling in January?

My husband and I will be booking a cruise on the Grand Princess January 21st-28th. He'd like to snorkel but is not sure if the water will be too cold. Is the water temperature is warm enough for snorkeling? What is the water temperature in Costa Maya (Majahual)/Georgegown? Thanks for your input!

You will be able to snorkel in January - temps in Caribbean range from 70's to 80's......

We have just got back from a Carribean Cruise, we swam in Cozomel, Jamaica and Princess Cays and the water was warm, obviously if the sun isn`t out then it is a little cooler, but definately warm enough to swim.

We thought the water was pretty darn cool in January, but I wouldn't miss it for the world! Remember when you were a kid and no matter how cold the water was you'd never admit to your mom you were too cold to swim? It's kind like that for me! I get cold fast, but it's worth it. Go, jump in, have fun!

Everyone's perception of cold or warm is different. Some think 80 f is warm, others think it is cool. In December you can expect water temps of 79 +/- a degree in Cozumel/Costa Maya. It might be a degree warmer in GCM.
