toysrme Posted November 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2005 Cozumel stinks................no, really! You couldn't help but notice the odor in some of the shops, but it was great to see it back up and running! The tendering was fairly quick, and was carried out by vessels of varying sizes. A couple of the larger ones (300-500 people, I think) were from PDC & Cancun. Damage to vegetation was evident in the trees. The mid-town dock was ready to greet. Outside a storefront was also used as a dancing stage.

toysrme Posted November 22, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 22, 2005 Senior Frogs/Carlos & Charlies took a hard hit. It will be a while before they re-open. The first 2 pix were taken from ground level of the second floor. The rough white border to the pix is the outside wall. Downstairs, Carlos & Charlies was a mess. My DW has to console our friend over this grevious loss!
toysrme Posted November 22, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted November 22, 2005 These 2 outside mall workers spoke very little English, but they were glad to have tourists back. Corona and DosXX were $2.00, plentiful, and we kept them coming at a couple of locations. The town square had ongoing activities. These children dancers performed as we wandered through. It was a beautiful, bright day and not too hot. We were more than happy to buy souveniers, jewelry, and beer. Good luck to Cozumel on re-building. toysrme Posted November 22, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted November 22, 2005 Belize has a nice little tender port with souvenier shopping (but you really don't want to get outside this area). Don't do the "Beer & the City" excursion (read my "Another Sun" thread). The driver happened to notice this guy and a few of his buddies alongside the road, so he took the mic from the woefully inadequate tour guide and pointed them out. This is how the weather began to build for our final stop in Roatan as we left Belize. Yes, they still do a couple of towel animals.
toysrme Posted November 23, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted November 23, 2005 I was hoping to get a lot of pix in Roatan, but we had bad weather and I didn't want to risk getting the camera wet. There were some very nice views!
