Veendam - Similar to a 3rd world country???

We've 'tolerated' 4 cruises on the 'Vee' ( an Antarctic, a Voyage of the V's, a Caribbean 'float' and a recent PC transit).

The delousing procedure upon disembarking went fine and the short isolation stay (in the airport) worked out even better..

Not too worry. The 'Vee' has the 3rd world thing worked out:)

Be well.

Bob

P.S: great crew, 'stuff happens' everywhere.

Loved your posting! Nice to see someone lighten things up.

We had a great laugh and we hope to see you on one of these "dam" ships in the future.

Been on the Veendam 4 times, inside (that great cabin K565 that they removed and made 2 cabins), an outside on the promenade deck, an A balcony and one of the extended wraparound balconies on the aft. Had no issues except for the promenade deck cabin, it was very hot. Not sure if it was from people having their lanais open, or if adding the lanais was the problem as had been suggested on this board. Did the Canada/New England itinerary twice, loved it.

THANK YOU!

Nice to hear from someone again who has sailed this ship a number of times. Especially nice that you have done the Canada/New Endgland itinerary twice. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Yes, I can imagine there were probably some issues with the a/c on the promenade deck after the lanai conversions took place. There have been so many things written, on the boards, about conversions of cabins or newly added cabins having mechanical problems. The first time we sailed on the Ryndam it had the old OV cabins and our inside guarantee got us into one of those and they were really nice. We liked watching people walking past our cabin and being able to see if deck chairs were vacant or not. We liked meeting different people while sitting on the promenade decks of many a ship. We would accept a lanai as an upgrade but wouldn't go out of our way to book one of those. I'd rather see people share the deck chairs, rather than reserve them. Sadly, people seem to prefer having private outside space these days, so the lanais probably have extended the lives of these old ships a little bit.
