Doug0 Posted November 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2005 This is a continuation of a another thread that drifted. The Maasdam is scheduled to stop at .5MC from 11-6. From reviews, I've gotten a couple of impressions: 1. Tender capacity can limit ability to get off quickly if one isn't prioritized for an excursion. (Or does the Maasdam's low capacity render this largely moot?) 2. It's a pretty nice place to just have a relaxing beach day. 3. The beach BBQ is nice (and free) but shuts down very quickly at 2pm, regardless of lines or conflicting activities. So, I'm thinking we should try to get the earliest possible tender tix. If we get an early time, we'll get off and have BBQ. If not, we'll eat on board first and then get off in the afternoon. Or won't there be any chairs left? grannynurse Posted November 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2005 IF YOU'RE IN A SUITE OR HAVE A CABANA YOU'LL GET PRIORITY TENDERING. gn
Joanne G. Posted November 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2005 If you don't have priority tendering (excursion or cabana rental), I would say eat lunch on board and tender over to the island after lunch. The BBQ is OK, but nothing worth rushing around for. While the crowds are lining up to be on the first tenders, you can be enjoying a leisurely lunch. By the time you are done with lunch, there's a good chance you'll have no wait for a tender, and you'll still have several hours on the island. There will be chairs left, though they may be down the beach a bit. By mid-afternoon, some people will be returning to the ship already, and then even more chairs will open up. Stay until the last tender and have a great time. It's a heavenly beach.

Although we were some of the last persons to tender over, there were still plenty of chairs and clamshells available.
