peety3 Posted May 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2017 Someone always jumps all over me for this, but IMHO you don't want to buy a camera that's been on the market more than 2.5-3 years. At most, don't buy a camera more than one generation old. The T5 was released in January 2014 and has been replaced by the T6. Sure, an older camera still works, but the technology has come a really long way every year and continues to do so, so the newer units give you a lot more latitude to get salvageable pictures (or better) as you learn. That said, it's not really about the camera. It's about the lens(es). If you're looking at a DSLR for the intention of either one lens or perhaps a two-lens kit, I'd suggest you look at mirrorless or bridge cameras instead. If you're willing to accept that there's a world of possibility out there, whether you rent lenses and/or buy them, now the DSLR category makes sense. There's a reason Canon has about 80 lenses to pick from.
