Barbarashimer414 Posted June 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2017 We normally do the Western Caribbean route, but were thinking about doing the Eastern this time. What is the best route, and is there a route to avoid?
Frank12 Posted June 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Our favorite stop in the east is St. Maarten. Maho beach watching the planes land (google it) is something everyone should experience in their lifetime!
crazycargirl Posted June 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2017 I agree with Frank12, but I would also add to visit the beaches on the French side of St Maarten. They are beautiful. They call it the happy island for a reason! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Barbarashimer414 Posted June 1, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Thank you and I will make sure that St Maarten is one of our stops. I really appreciate the help :)
Bonnie J. Posted June 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2017 There are no ports to avoid (like Jamaica!) on the eastern Caribbean! Bonaire was a bore unless you dive but not a lot of ships stop there-yet- and it's in a more Southern port. Antiqua had 365 beaches, lots of history to see. In San Juan there is El Moro the fort that guarded the San Juan, built in the 1500's, fascinating to visit! And there are two free buses there to take you all over. I can go on and on about all the Eastern ports but you can look them up here on CC. And, don't forget the Southern ports, ABC islands, etc.- all fun! zookiebird Posted June 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2017 DW and I love the Eastern Caribbean. Its our favorite get-out-of-winter-for awhile-getaway. The only port we avoid is Nassau. Other than that they're all good to go, especially St John (ship excursion or ferry from St Thomas).
