DenzelJoshington Posted June 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2017 So, partner's love for slot machines might have paid off. A casino partnered with Princess to give out free cruises to people who I'm guessing they expect to spend a healthy amount of time in the onboard casino. The offer is for a free interior cabin on any cruise up through next March or so, with Alaska and specialty cruises as the exception. Also, just have to pay the taxes/fees. So, I'm looking for some brainstorming if you guys want to help. The only cruise we've been on is an Atlantis trip on the Allure of the Seas in the Caribbean. We've never been on Princess. We live right in San Francisco, so the idea of just taking a Lyft over to the port to get on a ship here is really enticing. The options for San Francisco sailings are 15-day Hawaii trips (a little long for us) and 10-day Mexican Riviera trips. There's also a single itinerary that's 7 days of California Coast. Leaning towards the Mexico one and leaning toward the fall. However, there are a lot of options and I want to make sure I'm not missing something great that might not jump out to less experienced cruisers. We'd really like to be on a ship with fellow gay cruisers. We're in our 30s/40s and get along with people both younger and older. Would be nice to have a few age peers in the mix, but honestly we like about everyone who is happy and wants to hang. What are the numbers of gay cruisers on say a 3000-person Princess ship? Is it in the dozens or hundreds? This is really open-ended, but thanks for any suggestions for itineraries or ships?
Wellard Posted June 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2017 By the law of average: Yes! there will be other gay people on the ship... How many? ... well how long is a piece of string... at a guess a few dozen. As most lines have LGB meetings...including Princess. You should be able to Meet other gay passengers. Whamsey Posted June 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2017 We have sailed in Princess once and there were really no issues. Didn't do the meet up thing. I would things we saw maybe closer to dozens rather than hundreds. Most recent cruise was Royal Caribbean this Feb and same thing.... dozens. Did notice the meet up and it was all men -we are women- and there were maybe 8 couples. The others noticing place was the dance areas late at night. That was a BLAST! Before that was Carnival, same amount and then before Princess was Norwegian, we were part of a group of three couples, so hung with our group. We will se what our next adventure brings, Mexican Riviera in Feb out of LA. Good luck and Happy Sailing! Whamsey Posted June 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 6, 2017 Oh.... ages..... all ages really. We were late 50s presently ourselves but on this last cruise I danced with 30-40 year olds all the time. Love to dance! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
DenzelJoshington Posted June 6, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted June 6, 2017 Thanks for the feedback so far. That gives me a good enough idea about LGBT numbers. I guess I'm most interested in if you could pick any Princess Cruise for free, which one would you pick?
fr8cub Posted June 7, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 7, 2017 I have Cruised on Princess 8 times. We have done the SFO/LAX to Hawaii 4 times each was 15 nights All of these were done on the first couple weeks of Dec. A Mexico and Alaska Cruise. Panama Canal Cruise from LAX to Ft. Lauderdale and even done a TransAtlantic from Ft. Lauderdale and ended in Copenhagen. I don't know how many days the free cruise is, but I love longer ones myself. As far as how many gay people are on there, it all depends. One one of the Hawaii cruises there were about 35 couples on that cruise. And one night we had dinner table set up for 13 of us. It was great and we are still in touch with a lot of them today. Great time. We all met at the "Friends of Dorthy" back then which is not the LGBT meeting listed on the patter. They usually list it once or twice and then turn it over to us to set up meeting after that. But this varies from cruise to cruise. Which ever you choose, I hope you enjoy the trip.
