cruzinwieds Posted November 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2005 Went to Sea Grape Beach last Wednesday 11/23. Taxi fare is higher now since the ships tender in instead of docking in town, $7 per person. Beautiful beach, nice bathroom facility (very clean) and plenty of lounge chairs ($10 with free soda or water). Frozen drinks are $8.75 and $4.50 for a beer, didn’t try the food. I walked down to the Marriot and the beach is eroded, big drop off and not much going on. Water was very rough due to the passing of Tropical Storm Gamma, locals said that it is usually very calm. adu Posted November 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2005 Was this beach very crowded? Also, did it take long to get to this beach by taxi? Thanks!
sportsterjohn Posted November 30, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2005 the beach gets kinda full around noon but not over crowded. It's about a 10 minute drive to the beach and a bout a 25 min drive back (worse traffic going back). Also the cab should be 4-5 pp each way. there are also alot of water toys / jet skis etc you can rent there.
cruzinwieds Posted December 1, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted December 1, 2005 We got to the beach before 10:00 AM and it was empty (total of 3 ships in port that day). There is an area for groups coming from the ship on excursions that is separate from the rest of the beach. We left at 1:30 and it was not too crowded. Traffic was very heavy going back to George Town. Taxi is $7 from tender area, only $5 is the ship is docked in town and I am not sure if the docks are open after Ivan. It will cost $5 to go to town from Sea Grape Beach and another $5 to go back to the ship. So if you want to go to the beach then shopping and then back to ship it will be $17 total per person.
