xxoocruiser Posted July 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2017 Hello all, We are going on a cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Santiago, Chile. Has anyone had experieince with private tours in Lima (2 days) Pisco, or Arica, Chile ? For those CC members that have traveled to those cities it would be helpful to know the following as it can influence the responses: if you are able to transfer to the seat of a car/van type of mobility aid if any is used. If a wheelchair is a standard collapsible model. If a mobility scooter is it a travel model that can be broken down to fit into the back of a van. Have you checked with the cruise lines Special Needs Dept. to see if they can provide any accessible tours ? Accessible excursions are not published on the cruise line website. Also suggest you do a search of the disabled cruise forum using the key words, Lima, Pisco, Arica , Santiago or even Chile. the
ZellaLamb Posted July 17, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted July 17, 2017 Thank you. Of course, you are correct. I should have posted those things. I can transfer into a van but not into a bus. I will be using a portable electric wheelchair that folds up and weighs about 50lbs. My husband would do the lifting. I can walk a few steps. I'm not interested in using the cruise line tours as they are vastly more expensive. There are a couple of people posting tours on the roll call that I may be able to join but I was interested if anyone on this board had had experience with those ports. We are going on the Celebrity Infinity on November 23rd. Thanks so much for any additional input. Kate
Seashoregal Posted July 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2017 When we took a cruise that went to Santiago the port was actually Valapariso, Chile. The cruise line provided a bus transfer to Santiago. We spent a night in Santiago before flying home. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
