Disembarkation and Customs lines

Hi there, We are going on the Vista in a few months. Our flight home is out of Fort Lauderdale so I was wondering how bad the Customs lines are when you get off the ship and how soon you can get off in Miami if you don't do "walk off" with your bags? We want to book a shuttle to the airport for 9:15 AM. Would that work?

Are you priority or do you have Faster To The Fun? Usually if you have provided Carnival with your early flight departure time, they will place you in some of the first groups to disembark. I have gotten off the ship as early as 7am, but there are so many variables it's hard to predict how things will go on any given disembark day. Usually the Customs lines flow quickly and smoothly.

Use the porters waiting when you get off the ship...they will get you to the head of the line (in most cases they have their own line through customs to whisk people through and you do not have to stand in the regular line. Then they load your bags into whatever vehicle you are leaving on, it is so worth the extra tip (we tip $20 for the convenience, loading directly into our car (we park at terminal) and no line waiting)....;p

Is that $20.00 for one bag? My wife and me usually only have one bag for both of us, and it's on wheels. Or is it for 4 bags for an entire family? Personally I wouldn't use a porter for one bag but kids in tow, yes.

I also like the post that says buy FTTF. It's almost like at Carnival, it's a thing now to pay for "free" services. Oh, just pay money to get off or on the ship fast.

The easy answer is, when you get you tags, exchange them for a time slot earlier. I haven't been on a ship yet that you couldn't get for "free" a tag for early flights. I never had an issue for getting off a ship for my target time. 9:15 is not an unusual or crazy time.

I wouldn't put any tags on them. Do self assist. You will still debark before the the first set of tags are called and you don't have to worry about them misplacing one of your bags (happened to my sister in March on Vista). You don't need FTTF for self assist. You'll go after them but before tag numbers.
