Surrealistic Posted August 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2017 Anyone take the ferry to Lokrum Island or Cavat from the cruise port? How often do the ferries run, how accessible from where we dock? Looking for something to do for the day. Been to the old town, done the cable car, went to Montenegro. Any suggestions, tips? We will be there in April. TIA
Dubrovniktravelady Posted August 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2017 The ferry boats to both Lokrum and Cavtat only depart from the harbor in the old town. There is nothing from the Gruz Harbor and they only begin once our weather has become better. April can be known for wind and rain and has had nice spring temperatures but not warm enough to swim yet. When in April do you expect to be visiting our area? Most of the town begins to open just after Easter Sunday, which next year happens to be 01 April, again weather depending.
Rare John Bull Posted August 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2017 Transferring by boat between cruise port and city would be a great way to do it. But check out a map. Although by road it's little more than a mile, because of the peninsula north of Dubrovnik it's at least five times further by boat, mebbe even further to avoid submerged reefs. Locals know an opportunity when they see one - and the absence of a boat shuttle tells me it's not practical. :( JB :)
