A Peaceful Existance

A Chief Engineer who had worked all his life for P&O passed away and went off to his expected reward in heaven.

On arrival at the gates he was met by St Peter who conducted him through into the reception hall where he was shown a plan of the place.

"Where would you like to reside"? asked St Peter, "You can be where ever you like in Heaven".

The old Chief looked around and said ‘I don’t mind where I am put as long as I am not near any P&O captains’.

‘There are no P&O captains in heaven ‘, said St Peter, you don’t have to worry.’

Subsequently he found a nice quiet place to lay around and was there for a couple of weeks when he looked up one morning and was aghast to find a captain in his uniform walking by his place.

The Chief Engineer got up and stormed down to reception and ranted on to St Peter about his broken promise. ‘You told me there would not be any P&O captains near me,’he said

Mystified, St Peter said ‘ P&O captains’? ‘I told you there were none here’, he said .

‘Well one just walked by my place’, said the mechanic.

" Ah yes, no need to worry about Him Chief, that was just God, he likes to dress up as one sometimes".
