Key or card?

Forgive me if this has been asked several times, but I was wondering what was used to get into your room. On RC we had a card that was used as a key and for charging anything on the ship. How does Princess handle this?

Thanks,

Tish

Card key,(also referred to as ship's card) which you have to show when you leave the ship in port and when you embark the ship after a day in port. They put the card in a slot, and you have to show a photo ID. This method counts all those who have left the ship and who has returned. Same card is key to cabins.

I think the credit card type with the magnetic strip is used on all ships...and on HAL also.

Johnlauben is correct -- the Royal and Regal Princess use a separate plastic key with holes, not your onboard cruisecard.

On the RCI Nordic Empress last December, we had the same type of separate plastic key.

Not all ships use the cruise card/magnetic strip.

Pacific Princess (new) uses the credit card style card, with magnetic strip. Presume that Tahitian Princess uses same system.

TP uses the same system.
