BigAft Posted June 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2004 We will be cruising out out San Juan for the first time this Sept. Flying out of Michigan. The current rates are around $ 350 pp via Spirit. Does anyone have experience in the rates dropping between now and Sept? I guess the question is should I book now or wait. They were $ 224 pp six weeks ago. Thanks in advance. Cruise Miriam Posted June 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2004 Hi, that sounds like a great rate to me. I flew from Atl to SJU in Nov. and my TA was able to get me a $400 rate, which was great, all other published rates were $700 or more. It's hard to know if prices will drop, but something tells me no, with the price of fuel and all. Maybe some others have some thoughts. WiscCruiser Posted June 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2004 Sorry to say, I wouldn't suggest waiting for a better price, especially if you are flying down on the day of departure. There are so many cruise passengers flying into San Juan to catch their ship, that between the cruise lines blocking off seats and the passengers booking on their own, the seats go pretty quickly. Because of this the airlines don't usually have to discount the fares. $224 is a great rate, but $350 isn't all that bad. Have you seen what the cruise line wants for their airfare? That may make you feel a bit better. cruzfiend Posted June 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2004 I would take it! We are paying over $700.00 to go down the day prior and our prices have steadly gone up. Good luck. Aweigh we go
Coolmama_1 Posted June 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2004 I would jump on that airfare. With gas prices the way they are, it gives the airlines license to charge whatever they desire. We were able to get airfare from Nashville to SJU by piecing together a SW flight to Fort Lauderdale and American to San Juan for about 300.00. That was 4 months ago when the best price I could find was 700. Don't wait too long. Judy Cruisin in July on the Golden Princess

sammiedawg Posted June 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2004 Jump on that Spirit airfare, when we went on the golden in May the only reasonable fares were Spirit and Jet Blue. I'm 4 hour from Detroit so couldnt do Spirit.
imsulin Posted June 18, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2004 I agree! Take the $350.00 pp fare and run! I've flown to SJU many times, and usually try to use FF miles, but I've paid up to $800.00 pp to fly from SFO. SJU fares are generally very high. Yuk!
