Maine Coon Posted December 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2005 I've never been to Cayman Islands, but it looks like I might be there this December. Wanna swim / snorkel / dive with Stingrays I've heard so much about. I am PADI-certified amateur diver and so is my girlfriend. Not sure diving is the best, maybe just snorkeling will be enough. Looking for good prices and dependable companies. Thank you in advance.

Kiefmo Posted December 11, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2005 My wife and I just returned from the 12/3 cruise on the Grandeur of the Sea. We had booked a snorkel and stingray excursion directly through Captain Marvin. We did so because we used him on our last visit and really loved it. Because of the limited time of our port call we had only reserved a 2 hour outing as opposed to a 1/2 day which we would have preferred. In any case, when we showed up to check in at CM's we were told that we were the only reservations and they were canceling the trip. We told the ladies at the counter that their excursion was the highlight of our cruise. They then called the Captain who said that he made a commitment and that he would take us as promised. It was great! Patty and I with 3 crew members got the trip of a lifetime. What was even more impressive was that the three crewmen were absolutely gracious about the whole thing. Needless to say, I highly recommend Captain Marvin. Googling Captain Marvin, Cayman Islands will get you his web site.

Pierre2 Posted December 13, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 13, 2005 We were in the Grand Caymans on 12/1/05 off the Radiance of the Seas. We did a dive/snorkel combo with Divers Down and it was wonderful. They are just a couple blocks off the pier and we had nearly a private tour. My son is 12 and a Jr. PADI Certified Diver. He had the Rays flying like under water kites while my daughter and I snapped photo's from above, while snorkeling. There were no other groups around us so we had them all to ourselves. suebee53 Posted December 14, 2005 #9 Share Posted December 14, 2005 Gotta give TEN thumbs up for Soto's Cruises. They have smaller boats, take fewer passengers, and give extremely personal, warm service. Plus it's only US$30. I've done Red Sail and won't ever use anybody else from now on. After we booked our January cruise, the next thing I did was book our SRC cruise with Soto's.

jtonra Posted December 29, 2005 #11 Share Posted December 29, 2005 I saw that you did a dive / snorkel combo with Divers Down. Can you tell me more about this? Where did you dive / snorkel and how was it? How many divers / snorkelers? I'm looking to set up something similar for next April and I'm the only diver but there are nine snorkelers in our group.
