Mike & Sue Posted December 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2005 Do you have to take your passport for a day trip to St. John from St. Thomas? Will ship card or driver lic. work? Don't like the idea of possibly losing the passport. Thanks
Sheffie Posted December 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 11, 2005 These islands are part of the United States. You don't need to take any ID to visit them. You will need ship's ID to get back onto the ship, though.
Mike & Sue Posted December 12, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted December 12, 2005 Thanks Michelle, you know I must be on overload... I knew that, but maybe got confused  with a day trip out of St. Martin that we have been thinking of. Looking forward to cabbing it over to Red Hook for the short ferry and several hours on st. john. We were in ST earlier this year and it will be nice to get to another island. I see you are on the Serenade a few months after we are. Be sure to watch for our trip report when we get back and hope you enjoy your cruise. The Islander Posted December 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2005 In general you don't need id when taking the St. John ferry, however if for some reason the security level is raised then the US Homeland Security folks require ID to be shown when taking the ferry (this has happened a couple times this year). Driver lic. would work if ID was being asked for. --Islander http://www.*****
