Maui and Kauai Piers

Because you used the word "piers" in your post, I would presume your ship will tie up in Kahului on Maui. If that is the case, the most popular beaches are not close, and renting a car is the best option. If, however, your ship will be anchoring off Lahaina, you will be fairly close to some excellent beaches and public transport / taxicab could do the trick.

In Kauai you'll be next to Kalapaki Beach, which is nice. There are other better options if you rent a car, but for the convenience it's very enjoyable. You can either take the free shuttle from the pier that goes to the Anchor Cove Shopping Center (one end of the beach is behind it), or walk over on your own (5-10 minute walk). Nice clean beach.
