Tabsmom Posted December 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2005 Just looking for some opinions. We've sailed to Nassau several times. We've been to Atlantis, seen the Dig, taken the island tour and saw Ardastra Gardens. This time DH thinks he want to go to a beach for a while. RCI offers 2 basic beach excusions. The Yellowbird and Blackbeards Cay. Anyone have experience on either of these excursions. Yellowbird sounds like one big party. We're bringing 14 and 16 year old girls with us. Any suggestions? robinm918 Posted December 15, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2005 Hello -we did the Blackbeard Cay excursion this year while on Voyager. Nice easy boat ride to get there - a great view of the hotels along the way. One of the reasons we went there was because of the stingray pool, but it was a huge disappointment. It appeared dirty and was loaded with seaweed - very hard to see the stingrays. However, the beach there to the left was very nice - plenty of chairs and clear water to swim in. The facilities are acceptable - clean bathrooms, snack bar, etc. You may pay a lot less just taking a cab to one of the hotels that allow outside guests to use the facilities. Enjoy - Robin
MGoBlue2 Posted December 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2005 We did the Yellowbird and enjoyed it, nice little beach with food/drink, loungers to rent, etc. Free drinks on the way and the way back, partying on the way back.
suznf Posted December 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2005 We are going to be there at Christmastime as well. I have booked a Junkanoo excursion through shore trips dot com The woman who leads it is an expert on the topic...(and Junkanoo is celebrated on the morning of 12-26). The excursion lasts for 2 hrs and was $35 pp.
family cruisers Posted December 16, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 16, 2005 We did blackbeards cay while on the explorer of the seas in july 05. Had a great afternoon snorkeling w/ the stingrays. The water was perfectly clear, no seaweed of anything. You had the option of doing the snorkeling or just going to the beach and swimming (2 seperate areas and need a wristband to get in with the stingrays) Beautiful beach directly opposite Sandals property. (other half of blackbeards cay is sandals private island) It was an easy boatride to the island and it was enjoyable seeing the sights. Enjoy your trip!
