Bike In A Box

Does anyone know if there are luggage "Size" restrictions? My son is a collegiate cycling national champion and has a strict training schedule. So he really would like to knock off cycling 60-70 miles on each of the stops we make. He flies everywhere with his bike in a hard case, which looks like an oversized suit case ( the handle bars and pedals come off, and the tires, too) and is fairly thin (about 7-8 inches) but it is about 50 inches high and 38 wide. It is very light, weighing less than 10 pounds.

 

Does anyone know the rules on this?

You should have no problem with taking the bike on board... as checked luggage! We've taken larger and heavier many many times... Just remember to tip the dock porter!

RCCL has a limit of 200lbs per guest, so if you under that then you'll be good to go!:p

The second to last cruise that I was on, there was a road biker that I saw in full lycra with a SUPER nice Cannondale on the tender on more than one occation.

 

I would recommend speaking to guest services when you board about how they would want you to handle keeping the bike. I'm not sure if they'd be ok with someone walking a bike down their narrow halls..Maybe they would, I'm not sure what arrangements the cyclist I saw had made, but I do know that he rode on every island.

 

Also...Be Very carefull.....traffic is pretty scary on some islands!

 

Also, Also....MTB or ROAD? and where are you going? Kind of bike?

I have seen some of the buffet lines and men in speedos...surely you jest. This is so not enforced.

Is that published in the RC documentation somewhere? I've never seen it. I haven't quite made it to 200# a person when travelling, although we do tend to carry more when we drive vs. flying.

 

I have seen huge piles of luggage outside some of the cabins on the last night so I'm sure some people have exceeded that 200# limit.
